NEW DELHI, DECEMBER 1: Council For The Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) will conduct compartmental exams for ICSE and ISC students within three months from the academic year 2019. The exams will be held in the third week of July every year while the result will be declared in August. This introduction will give those students, who are unable to clear their class X and XII, a second attempt to pass the exams without having to wait for another year. Earlier students could re-appear for the exams only in the subsequent year.
Class X examinees who pass English and three other subjects can write the compartmental exam if they fail in fifth subject while class XII examinees who pass English and two other subjects can write the compartmental exam if they fail in the fourth subject.
As per reports, Council CEO and secretary Gerry Arathoon, at the annual Association of Schools for the Indian School Certificate Conference stated that the students of class X board exam will get to know their score in individual subjects like Physics, Chemistry and Biology instead of the average score for group of subjects which they received till now.
Another change to be introduced from the year 2021 is that students will get the flexibility to choose from only three textbooks of English Literature instead of plethora of options available at present.
CISCE has not come up with any official notification on its website as of now but is expected to be officially announced on December 3.
